The diagnosis of ‘but’ tells people ‘I’m mediocre, I’m just like you, you’ve got nothing to worry about. I’m not moving ahead, you are safe.’
We are not only saying these things to other people. This is what we are communicating to ourselves. That every good thing comes with a negative and the negative is what matters most. Going towards the light rather than away from the dark makes the whole difference on the path we take in life.
I graduated.
I moved out.
I have lovely children.
