Flying to the Highest Point.

The conditions of a solitary bird are five: the first, that it flies to the highest point (…)

Carlos Castaneda

The highest point we reach is the highest we lift our gaze and set our objectives to. Can we picture sky rocketing through the clouds, out into the universe when our peers never got on top of a mountain? We often don’t, but when we do set targets above perceived limits it can get lonely.

A solitary bird is majestic – self-sufficient, with the beak pointed towards the sky, wanting to overcome their previous personal best. What is a challenging hike for me can seem like a Sunday walk for you, that’s not the point. The point is to progress.

There is solitude in generating ideas and visions that go unspoken up until they manifest themselves. When ideas turn into facts their description becomes redundant and the solitude of flying to the highest point is replaced with a different reality – the one of perseverance and success.
