Living Intentionally

Accidents happen all the time, but what if we choose to live our life in accident mode? We wake up dreading the day ahead of us and looking forward for the escape of sleep, just to realize that the lack of awareness while sleeping makes those intensely sought for moments insignificant. And we carry on looking for some real experiences when our most cherished present is the present moment.

The routines we build and do mindfully or mindlessly create the map for our life. It doesn’t take a fortune teller to anticipate what our life will be 10 years from now. Our life unfolds the way we see it in our mind and what we see in our mind is reflected through how we live our life. It can take extraordinary effort to love ourselves and start developing positive self-talk and beliefs of achievement that will help us overcome our condition.

Leaving our life to chance is a losing bet. It allows producers, employers, family and friends to feed off our backs, of our energy. Let’s use our creative energy to become our highest version of ourselves and go full speed in changing what we see and what we do to improve the world around us.

What Do We Tell Ourselves in Bed at Night?

You are getting all cozed-up after a long day of work and growth, with a cup of tea in one hand and a book in the other. Or maybe you just went straight to bed, fallen flat on your tummy and let sleep take over. Either way, we are about to get our system rebooted. But the data that we input last will be picked up first in the morning. A bit of an irony when you think about an orderly lineup in processing information.

We can give ourselves the opportunity to be bright and excited next day by introducing three simple practices in our evening routine:

  1. Detach from work through a buffer activity – yoga, meditation, reading, listening to music or a nice bath
  2. Be thankful for what you’ve achieved, kindness, love and health
  3. Visualize yourself succeeding, being accomplished, making the difference you want to make into the world and add some descriptions of who you want to become – powerful, in control, creative, committed

Paying attention for ten minutes to our thoughts today and stirring them into the direction we want to go to will have a great impact on the next day and the next day and the next day. Our future is now.

Focus Means Saying No to Cool Ideas

It was more than once that I was called an idiot which at a very young age was described to me as ‘a person with ideas’. It didn’t take long to understand that ideas are worth something, so I would explore every corner of my creativity trying to impress my audience. Only later to understand that ideas that are not implemented are mere entertainment.

Focus and creativity can make a great pair, but creativity needs discipline. To complete any piece of work we need focus. We need to take out our notebook and write down our ideas. Picture a child chasing a butterfly until a more flashy, beautifully painted one comes along. Chances are that the first butterfly that was chased is at a considerable distance by the time the child realizes the distraction.

Eliminating distractions can be painful in the beginning, which is why seeing our life through the eyes of our future-self numbs the pain and allows us to accumulate uplifting decisions and actions that will bring change and rewards. Become now who you want to be tomorrow.

Believing that Something Is Possible Makes it so

Impossible is quite a primitive world. Looking around us and thinking that everything was either invented or discovered is a belief that could hold back our evolution as species. But just as in the glorious unjustified times of war people back home need to keep the economy prosperous, progress wouldn’t be possible without minimum standards being maintained in the society.

And yet it takes courage to take risks. To risk of being told by those around you that your idea is… great without any real feedback, the risk of being perceived as ‘other’ for wanting to turn systems around or build something that the world not only thought impossible, but couldn’t see value in it.

Seeking validation at early stages of building the impossible can be harmful to creating innovation. People who are afraid of the impossible will see legitimacy in you only when the possibility is real. And people of the the impossible, just like you, they are committed to their own mirage and recreation of the reality. The message can be that you’re on your own, but more than that, remember that a strong belief of what can be done will help you turn the impossible into possible.

When the Lights Are Off but Your Mind Is Lighting Ideas

Have you ever experienced feeling tired, yet you put your head on the pillow and you can’t seem to stop thinking and producing great ideas? Even more, you come up with a solution and you see it so clearly that you think it will be just as obvious for you when you wake up?

Finding ways to relax your mind allows you to harvest ideas that a busy mind cannot produce. Going to sleep is the end-circle in the day: we reset, we allow ourselves to be free from mundane commitments. Without an influx of information being thrown at us, our brain makes sense of events that happened throughout the day and expresses ideas of its own – of our own.

Take a second and allow yourself to discover the power that’s within you. Ask the right question and the answer will reveal itself. It might be handy to have a notebook and a pencil nearby.
