Why Social Pressure Cannot Dictate How We Are Going to Live Our Life

And yet we are herd creatures. We ‘keep up’ with what our friends and family are doing or even what strangers at the other end of an Instagram account portray their life to be. We take a journey of the path well-traveled while leaving inward paths unhinged.

Without making the internal journey we jump ahead, checking the landmarks that ‘make’ a successful person – a car, money, a spouse, children. Children, when we haven’t grown ourselves. A relationship when our role models messed things up in ‘normality’. By checking all this criteria we tell ourselves is okay. Is okay to lie on the sofa by the time your sixty and watch whatever the curators of your thoughts feed you.

We cannot allow ourselves to act based on the instructions, not if we want to surpass the little me and grow into something bigger and brighter than our family could have ever imagined for us.
